I just came out of a Xanopticon obsession. He is a maniac. Obviously his glitch/beat programming is just phenomenal but the apocalyptic atmosphere of his music (check out the album 'Liminal Space') takes me to another world. The only electronic music that's affected me as powerfully is Richard Devine, some Converter (particularly 'Exit Ritual') and Cevin Key.
But at the moment i'm listening to Dev/Null's "Lazer Thrash" - AGAIN - which is, without a doubt, the end of breakcore, so now it's time to pack up and go home.
i'm going to see shivkumar sharma on sunday. hundustani classical music on a 100 stringed instrument. the most crazy rhythms you could ever want to hear. all done by hand. can't wait.
sado: right, right. so should we shut down this website, then? ![]()
(edit: this WAS a joke, i hope that was obvious! ![]()
juan.vesa: any more details on that (when, where, how much)? sounds interesting as hell.
JUAN, I'M SO FUCKING THERE!!
DETAILS!
no shit. i didn't realise anyone else was really interested.
it's sunday night, $50AU, i know, pretty steep, but may be the last time any of us get to see any of the truly great masters. it'd be great if there's some other cats interested, cos at this stage i'm going on my lonesome.. i've got some mp3's/flacs here, if anyone wants, hit me up and i'll email the links to you (i noticed theres no pm here).

Hahaha, listen to "Lazer Thrash" for yourself! Breakcore is DEAD, Dev/Null killed it.
But don't shut the forum. I need somewhere to troll. ![]()
I really like shakti's stuff (john mclaughlins group with a bunch of indian percussionist sitar players) so I imagine I'd love to hear this!

i think i've heard of them, but can't think of anything which comes to mind. this is more traditional stuff, just the santoor and tabla, but the playing is beyond phenomenal. if you like hindustani classical, you won't be dissappointed.

fuck yeah that's an awesome album!
i can't really recommend anything, but lately i've been listening to a lot of later talk talk (they went really ambient towards the end), and also mike patton's peeping tom album is pretty excellent. and my usual listening of crazy mathrock/mathmetal/post/sludge/doom/whatever.

Currently listening to Innerwar by Brighter Death Now. One of the best death Industrial albums ever.
In that vein I recommend Stratvm Terror, Crepuscule, Bocksholm and Steel Hook Prostheses.
I haven't bought much breakcore in the last three or so years but favourites are Epsilon, Anything by the Healy Bros (Somatic Responses, Potere Occulto, Xynomorph(?)) and various Dan H projects.
Nasenbluten will always retain a soft spot in my heart.
I also like Tom Waits, Birthday Party, Dead Kennedys and Gentle Ben and his sensitive side and a million other things that sound good.
Don't have time to list what music I think is good...
Rekindling my love of Xanopticon after seeing him live last week.
Currently digging Hrvatski, Subjex, Cdatakill, Abelcain, Current Value, Prefuse 73, Venetian Snares and Leonard Cohen.
Hanging for the new Drumcorps and DJ Producer.
Still thinking DEV/NULL is utter garbage.

Ah, that's too bad. Care to expand on this one?
Leonard Cohen, great! Songs of Leonard Cohen will always be one of my favourite albums. "Master Song," so haunting.
